An Inverness mother was caught by police with more than 100g of heroin hidden in her underwear, a court heard yesterday.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that a set of digital scales were also found in 26-year-old Stacey Wallace’s bra when she was searched by officers on May 10 last year.
Wallace, of Smithton Park, denies being concerned in the supply of approximately 116g of heroin in Inverness.
A jury heard that a months-long surveillance operation had begun in January last year to try and interrupt an organised crime group in Liverpool bringing controlled drugs into the Highlands.
Up to 20 officers were involved in the secret operation with persons known and unknown to police being watched.
Detective Sergeant Derek Macgillivray, of the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit, told the court that Wallace was one of them.
The detective ordered a car to be stopped and the occupants were taken to the city’s Burnett Road Police Station.
“Wallace was strip-searched by two female police officers and a large package containing five smaller ones were found in her underwear. A set of digital scales were then found in her bra,” he said.
The trial, which is expected to end today, continues.
