Mulraney set for Caley Jags return

Caley Thistle's Jake Mulraney.

Caley Thistle midfielder Jake Mulraney will return to full training today following a hamstring injury and could be available for Saturday’s Highland derby against Ross County.

Mulraney was injured in the 2-1 win against Rangers on February 24, with the 20-year-old restricted to light jogging since the start of last week.

Mulraney’s return will be a timely boost for Caley Jags manager Richie Foran, who felt the injury came just as the former QPR player was starting to flourish.

Foran said: “Jake can unlock doors with his pace and we need speed in our side, particularly on the counter-attack. He has been missed. He was coming on to a game, was high in confidence, and produced two fantastic performances against two of the best sides in the league in Rangers and Hearts.

“It was a blow for us but hopefully he will be available for Saturday. He’s starting to mature and looking the part.”

Caley Jags have just 10 games to save their season, starting with home matches against County and Kilmarnock.

Foran has warned his players must deliver and said: “Forget about performances, win ugly. We need to pick up points now. We’ve got two big home games and are going to embrace the challenge.

“We’re in for some interesting and exciting games. The players are looking hungry, not nervous.”
