Eat Out To Help Out: Eateries continue to offer discounts for second month after end of scheme

Eat Out To Help Out was an enormous help to hospitality businesses and more than a month after the scheme ended, many restaurants and bars are still offering discounts. We have the details.

The UK Government’s Eat Out To Help Out scheme, which offered 50% discounts up to £10 off in local eateries, gave hospitality businesses a shot in the arm following the coronavirus lockdown.

When the scheme ended on August 31, many restaurants, cafes, bars and coffee shops kindly took on the burden of the discounts themselves by offering money off during the month of September.

Local eateries have coronavirus safety measures in place.

There is no doubt that the hospitality business was one of the hardest hit during lockdown and as we enter October a number of establishments are continuing money-off deals as an incentive to bring customers through their doors.

Around 84,000 restaurants signed up to offer the scheme during August, with a reported 64 million discounted meals served in the first three weeks of the month alone.

Venues that saw an increase in business thanks to Eat Out to Help Out are hoping that with the scheme having enticed customers to eat out again, they will continue to flock back.
