Four new bus services will be launched in the city to help residents living in cut-off communities.
The new routes starting a week on Monday will be the number 14 Kingswells to Aberdeen city centre via Westburn Road, the 15A from Craigiebuckler to the city centre through Airyhall in the evenings and the 40 running from Guild Street to Dubford (Shielhill) on Sundays.
The council supported services will also include the new number 94 bus transporting passengers between the city crematorium and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
It will operate on weekdays between 9am and 4.34pm.
The service 14 will operate via Holburn Junction and terminate at Upperkirkgate, and will replace the Kingswells village leg of the service currently provided by the service 94.
The current route 94 service from Kingswells and Kingswells Park and Ride to Aberdeen Crematorium and ARI will be withdrawn.
Buses will run along the number 40 route on an hourly basis between 8.40am to 10.25pm.
Council transport spokesman Ross Grant said: “We are delighted to step in with these council-supported bus services as we knew how vital good public transport links are to our residents.
“We carried out research and found there were key areas of the city which had an identified gap in public transport provision so we are stepping in to provide services for these communities.”
Bus services have recently been withdrawn around the city, with concerns voiced about the X40 serving the Bridge of Don area stopping on April 1.
The other side of the service in Kingswells was withdrawn last year causing outrage.
Kingswells, Sheddocksley and Summerhill councillor Steve Delaney said: “I have to congratulate the community for campaigning on this issue.
“The new service will be a big improvement.”
