Care chiefs have upheld a complaint against a north-east nursery after a child fell down a set of metal stairs.
Claire Harrison withdrew her two-year-old son Isaac from Les Enfants Nursery in Inverurie earlier this year, citing a spate of concerning incidents.
Among the complaints she made was that her son, who was enrolled in the nursery for just a few months, fell down a set of metal stairs after he was left unattended.
Miss Harrison complained to the Care Inspectorate and the organisation has now upheld her complaint.
However it said it was satisfied the nursery had already taken steps to address the concerns and has not taken any further action or set any improvement targets.
Last night Miss Harrison, from Inverurie, said she was pleased that her complaint was “taken seriously”.
She said: “Since going public the stairs are not in use and I’m pleased that my complaint was taken seriously. I hope that any significant improvements that need to be made will be done as soon as possible to ensure the safety and well being of the children attending.”
The nursery, which is located on Burghmuir Circle, has been open since 2011 and can cater for up to 173 pre-school children and babies.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “A concern was raised with us about this service and we have considered it carefully.
“We have upheld a complaint in relation to this matter, and have published the outcome on our website.

“However we are also satisfied that the service have taken steps to deal with this matter appropriately.
“We continue to work closely with the care service to ensure the care experienced by children is of a standard that they have a right to expect.”
A spokeswoman for the nursery said: “Following a concern raised earlier this year, prior to Busy Bees taking over the running of the Les Enfants nursery chain, the Care Inspectorate carried out an unannounced visit to the nursery.
“The care and wellbeing of children at our nurseries is our highest priority and we always treat concerns raised seriously. We are grateful that the concerns were brought to our attention and as soon as we were aware of the issue changes were made at the nursery. We cooperated fully with the Care Inspectorate throughout their time looking at our nursery and they were fully satisfied that the steps we had taken were appropriate.
“Whilst the Care Inspectorate upheld the original complaint, we are pleased they confirmed that no further action is required and that we had dealt effectively with this situation.”
