Dolphinwatch will return to Aberdeen bigger and better than ever this summer with a wealth of new events on offer.
The RSPB experience, located at the Torry Battery, invites the public to make the most of the north east’s coastline and its sealife.
This summer there will be three major family events together with regular rock-pooling sessions and beach cleans.
They are all designed to attract and entertain visitors while also encouraging them to connect with the local marine wildlife and the environment.
Dolphinwatch visual experience officer, Emily Burton, said: “I can’t wait to get stuck into the exciting events we have lined up this year.
“We’ve got some old favourites returning as well as some brand-new events designed to engage people with marine wildlife and hopefully encourage them to protect it.
“I love coming up with creative ways to connect young people with the natural world and challenge them to work as a team to solve puzzles and complete challenges.”
The first event of the year, Marine Mammal Madness, takes place on July 6.
It is one of the regular offerings and invites visitors to take part in a range of activities and challenges, from leaping like a dolphin in the long jump, diving into the limbo or racing through an obstacle course.
A detective day aimed at ages 10-12 will take place on August 10, exploring local species and the wildlife food chain, while also introducing some team building skills.
Rock pooling sessions will occur on the last Saturday of every month, with beach cleans happening on the last Sunday.
Viewing at the battery will also be running throughout summer, with RSPB staff providing binoculars, information and assistance to spot the bottlenose dolphins.
Ms Burton added: “The Dolphinwatch project is incredibly special because it offers a glimpse of some beautiful wild animals just outside the busy city centre.”
The season will finish on August 17 with the Big Wildlife Picnic.
