An Aberdeen stroke survivor is walking a million steps in his garden to raise funds for three charities during the lockdown.

Retired NHS Grampian doctor John Bevan is doing this ambitious challenge to raise funds for The Stroke Association, When you Wish upon a Star and International Justice Mission.

Mr Bevan had a stroke in 2018 that affected his speech and movement.

Through support from family, health professionals and his determination, he has rebuilt his life after a stroke and is back to a new normal.

This is John Bevan’s garden where he is doing the million steps challenge.

Mr Bevan said that he has planned three different routes around his garden.

He added “It’s really hard going but I am now over halfway there.

“I would love for everyone to support me by donating towards these worthy charities: the sum raised will be divided equally.

“If I could do it, the walk might provide for charities likely to lose out due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Head of Regional Fundraising South, Stroke Association, Jo McGuinness said: ” We are tremendously thankful for all the support he is giving the charity.”

Mr Bevan hopes to complete this walking challenge in the next five weeks.
