A woman seen swerving all over the road but at an “excessively slow” speed late at night was almost five times the legal drink-drive limit.

Malgorzata Rzeznik’s car was crawling along the road and officers found her with slurred speech and blurry eyes when they pulled her over in the Ferryhill area of the city, Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told.

Fiscal depute Sean Ambrose said her red Honda Civic was spotted on CCTV being driven in an erratic manner along Union Grove and Willowbank Road.

Officers were sent to trace and pull over the 44-year-old at around 11.40pm on March 17 this year.

Smell of drink and slurred words

“They noted that the vehicle was swerving across the carriageway and being driven excessively slow for the road conditions,” the fiscal said.

“It was stopped and the accused was found to be the driver. Officers noted she had an odour of alcohol emitting from her, her speech was slurred and the condition of her eyes and demeanour indicated she was under the influence of some substance.”

She was cautioned and arrested and taken to Kittybrewster Custody Suite.

Rzeznik admitted driving with 108 microgrammes of alcohol per litre of blood, the legal limit being 22mcg.

Sheriff Donald Ferguson deemed it a “very high reading”.

He deferred sentence for background reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment and ordered Rzeznik, of Pentland Road, Aberdeen, to return to court next month.

Defence agent Debbie Ginniver reserved mitigation until that appearance.
