A man has died after falling from a block of student flats in Aberdeen.
Emergency services rushed to the Ardmuir building in King Street just after 8am.
Police set up a cordon to the rear of the property, on the corner of Merkland Road, with officers standing guard at the site for several hours.
A spokeswoman said someone had “fallen from a height” there and that work was ongoing to trace the family of those involved.
Ambulance crews, including paramedics and a trauma team, were also sent to the private halls.
Later in the morning, forensic teams and a private undertaker also arrived.
Stunned residents of Zetland House looked on as an officer stood guard at the site and others removed equipment from the scene.
A man, understood to have lived in the same block as the deceased, said he had seen him only hours before.
“He was absolutely fine this morning when I came back from the library.
“He was my friend and he seemed fine.
“I woke up and he is gone – I don’t know what happened.”
The exact circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain unclear, with student accommodation provider Ardmuir refusing to comment.
Instead the firm, which also operates other student accommodation in Pittodrie, Froghall and further up King Street, referred the press to Aberdeen University.
A spokesman for the university said they too would not be commenting at this time, while police were investigating.
He also said it was not clear to him why Ardmuir, as the private operators of the site, would expect the institution to comment on its behalf.
