Aberdeen locals are being invited to share their experiences of marriage and family life.
A team from Glasgow University are researching the history of working class marriage in Scotland since 1855, and will be visiting the Aberdeen Maritime Museum on Saturday, August 30.
The event – named Tell Us Your Story – will also feature talks about the project, which has been underway for two years.
The researchers have put together an online collection of images from family albums, dating as far back as the 1880s.
Aberdonians will have the chance to do the same by dropping photographs into a “memory box” at the museum on the day.
Researcher Andrea Thomson has already conducted interviews in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Perthshire, and said she was looking forward to hearing from people in Aberdeen.
“The team has found a wide diversity of nationalities in Scotland’s past, with people contracting marriages across many different cultures and international borders,” she said
“Therefore, we are keen to hear from anyone who is interested, regardless of their marital status or background, in order to make the project as representative of Scottish experience as possible.”
The event will run at the Shiprow museum between 10am and 4pm on the day.
