For someone who normally has to contend with the stress of managing events, Isla Elliott was able to relax yesterday as she attended her own graduation ceremony at Robert Gordon University (RGU.)
The 22-year-old from Banchory spent two years at Aberdeen College and two years at RGU and collected a degree in events management yesterday.
She said: “Spending two years at each meant I got the best of both worlds.
“I’m glad that I went to university, it has allowed me to develop academically and given me the knowledge to support my industry experience.
“The course content was very favourable and covered a lot of very useful topics that can be applied to the workplace in the future.”
She commuted from her home town to Aberdeen throughout her studies – which came in handy when it came to her dissertation.
She explained: “I researched the link between attending community based events and a person’s wellbeing, and focused on Banchory.
“I found there was a positive link as long as it is not overdone.”
She now aims to secure a position with an events-based organisation in order to develop her career, and dreams of getting into the fashion industry.
