For many school children, their final year at primary school has been cut short by the pandemic.
In Aberdeenshire, the Ythan Valley Rotary club has helped Methlick Primary School to buy year books, to give P7’s a physical memento of their primary journey.
The school’s head teacher, Colette Fraser, and P6/7 teacher, Stephanie Deans, had come up with the idea for the yearbooks and had hoped the children could have undertaken fundraising for the books themselves, but given the circumstances it was not possible.
The Ythan Valley Rotary club then donated £200 towards the year books and were “delighted” to do their bit to help the local school.
Mrs Fraser said: “I do feel the year book is going to be a vital link for these pupils as they have had their time together cut short and have not had the normal passage to high school they should have had.
“Transition is an important step and Miss Deans and I are very keen to create and maintain memories and bonds they will carry with them to their next stage of education.
“Miss Deans has worked very hard with the P7’s to create this book and it will be a wonderful memory of Methlick for our pupils.”
