A drunken man turned up at his ex-partner’s house shouting, swearing and wanting to fight her new boyfriend following a social media spat.

Cameron Fraser made the “very poor decision” after drinking during the evening, a court was told.

The 20-year-old showed up outside the woman’s Aberdeen flat and when his ex came outside to try to diffuse the situation, Fraser said he wanted to fight.

Fiscal depute Tom Procter Fraser and the woman had been in a relationship for five years, ending in May 2020.

He said: “At 12.15am on May 29 2022, the complainer was within her home address with her current partner when she heard shouting from the car park outside.”

Continued to shout and scream for 10 minutes

On looking outside, she saw Fraser and “to prevent an altercation” she went downstairs.

Mr Procter said: “The accused began to shout and swear at her, asking to fight her current partner.”

The woman phoned 999 and showed Fraser, however, this “did not deter him”.

She went back upstairs to her flat and heard the communal door “being kicked and slamming open” behind her.

Fraser, believed to still be outside, continued to shout and scream for around 10 minutes.

Police attended and later traced and arrested him.

Fraser, of Kirkhill Place, Aberdeen, pled guilty to a domestically aggravated charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Defence agent Ian Woodward-Nutt said: “It’s highly significant in relation to this matter that all parties have since made amends.

‘These are serious matters’

“My client and his ex-partner’s boyfriend had been involved in a discussion through social media and comments passed to Mr Fraser were abusive.

“Unfortunately, having taken alcohol that night, he took it upon himself to come to speak face-to-face with him.

“In the cold light of day, he appreciates that was a very poor decision.”

Mr Woodward-Nutt said Fraser’s life “somewhat went off the rails” following a sudden bereavement, but added he was now in a new relationship.

Sheriff Shirley McKenna said: “I’ve heard what’s been said about how you’ve moved on.

“Hopefully you’ll have learned that these are serious matters and they can affect your life dramatically.”

She deferred sentence until January next year for Fraser to be of good behaviour.
