Officers investigating the murder of a Rothienorman pensioner have launched a fresh appeal for information.
Brian McKandie was found dead in his cottage in Badenscoth on March 12 this year, but nobody has ever been charged.
The 67-year-old former television engineer had suffered blunt force trauma to his head.
Police are now asking people who may have been customers of Mr McKandie to come forward. And they are also planning to hang posters around the community appealing for help.
Detective chief inspector Iain Smith said: “An extensive forensic examination of Brian’s address has resulted in the recovery of forensic evidence and we are keen to identify anyone who knew Brian, was a customer of his, or frequented his address for any reason to let us know.
“You may think your information is not important. howeve I would respectfully ask you to let us make that judgment. It could well be of great assistance.”
Police are also searching for two people who were seen at Mr McKandie’s home prior to his death – a heavy-built man with dark hair between 40 and 50 years old, and a thin man with collar-length blonde hair between the ages of 20 and 30 years old.
They are believed to have been travelling in a burgundy or red estate car.
DCI Smith added: “As our investigation continues into Brian’s death it is crucial we build a picture of his life and acquaintances. If you are aware of anyone who would have been in his company, or know of anyone who was in contact with him, please let us know and we can quickly check as to whether we have spoken to them.
“Although sometimes described as a Volvo style estate car, it could be any old estate car of similar shape and features. This car has not yet been traced yet and these people have not yet come forward.”
Charity Crimestoppers has offered a £10,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction.
