A north-east woman is on her way to Edinburgh to begin a new career after graduating in medicine from Aberdeen University.

Emma-James Watt’s time in the Granite City has been a busy one, because not only has she picked up a qualification, but she also married her husband Peter at the end of her third year.

The former Fraserburgh Academy pupil also gained the opportunity to visit Australia as part of her studies and spent nine weeks at the Melbourne Children’s Hospital.

She said: “It’s really good to graduate and I am really excited to be finished, but I will miss university.

“It’s been amazing, I’ve made so many friends and I will have really good memories.

“I am going to Edinburgh to do my foundation programmer where I will rotate all over the city in different hospitals and departments.”

The 23-year-old added: “I got married at the end of my third year in Norwood Hall in Aberdeen just after I finished my exams.”

She was also full of praise for the course she just completed.

She said: “I would definitely recommend Aberdeen to other medical students, it’s such a good university and the staff really help you get through it.

“I got to spend nine weeks in Australia for one of my electives at the start of this year and that was a really good experience.”
