Networking organisation BNI Scotland is planning to open a second section in Inverness following the success of its first.

The group says business referrals worth more than £1million have been made by members since the launch of its BNI Highland chapter in the city 18 months ago.

BNI Scotland executive directors Angela and Bryan Kinghorn yesterday said they were delighted with the progress made in the city are keen to open an additional chapter there in the coming weeks.

Mrs Kinghorn said:  “Based on the £1million of business exchanged, a seat at BNI Highland has been worth, on average, more than £31,000 to each member business.

“Our goal is to have each of our groups generating £5million in referred business each year. To do that, each chapter will need 50 or more members. Consequently, we’re looking for business owners in the Highlands who want to grow their business, to visit BNI and see what it’s all about.”

She added: “All trades and professions are welcomed. What makes BNI unique is that only one member per profession is permitted within a chapter.”

Members pay an annual fee to be part of BNI and commit to attend weekly meetings where referrals are exchanged. All business transacted is recorded, and referrals are tracked.

More than 250 local people attended a recent business exhibition hosted by BNI Highland at Eden Court in Inverness.
