Wedding cancelled as Aberdeen hotel announces it will close this weekend

A wedding due to take place in Aberdeen next month has been cancelled after the venue went into administration.

The Inn at the Park will close its doors on Sunday and the five remaining staff had to be made redundant.

Michael Reid of Meston Reid & Co has been appointed to act as the administrator for the group.

He said: “A wedding reception scheduled for November 12 had to be cancelled together with other events booked at the hotel.

“It is difficult to advise a bride and groom that their wedding plans have been thrown into disarray and clearly, if any licensed establishment can offer a function room for 50 – 60 people, I am sure that the couple would be delighted to be contacted.”

He added : “The trading difficulties prior to administration made ongoing operating activities challenging and, whilst some staff had tendered their resignation over the last few days in view of the prevailing uncertainty, those that have agreed to remain until the last day are to be thanked for their diligence and support.

“The fact remains that the hotel was losing money and the situation could not continue indefinitely.

“If a new owner is found within the next few weeks who will operate it as a going concern, there may be a possibility that previous bookings can be honoured but it is recognised that many people will wish to book another location in order to be sure of the event taking place.

“It is sad that the hotel had to close but efforts continue to find a buyer.”
