Aberdeen man stored cocaine and heroin worth thousands at his home for London-based drug dealers

A “greedy” crook who was caught storing more than £107,000 of cocaine and heroin for London-based drug dealers has been jailed for six years.

Robert Bell was arrested after police received a tip-off that he was storing the Class A drugs at a property on Hilton Drive, Aberdeen.

Officers raided the property on July 22, and 10 minutes later, Bell arrived.

When they searched him, they discovered he had drugs in his jacket pocket and he told them: “I’ve got more in my house, in the cupboard.”

When police searched his own home in the city’s Hutcheon Court, they found the drugs worth £107,300.

Bell, whose address in court papers was listed as HMP Grampian, previously admitted being involved in the supply of cocaine and heroin, and appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday for sentencing.

The court previously heard that London-based gangsters had heard Bell would store drugs and deliver them to various addresses in Aberdeen.

When he was interviewed, he told officers he would be paid £20 to £30 for each delivery he made.

During his interview, he told officers he was “happy” to carry out the deliveries for the drugs gang and that he was “greedy” for the money.

At yesterday’s hearing, defence advocate Gareth Jones urged judge Kenneth Maciver QC to be lenient with his client, but added: “He is realistic about his prospects. He has provided full and frank admissions about his involvement.”
