North-east man describes horror of being attacked by buzzard while out on morning run

Alasdair Green was left with cuts after the attack.

A north-east man has described feeling like something had “fallen out of the sky” when he was attacked by a furious buzzard while out enjoying a morning run.

Alasdair Green was heading past the Anguston junction on the A93 Aberdeen to Braemar road when he was targeted by the aerial menace.

So ferocious was the attack, the 40-year-old was knocked to the ground and left with nasty gashes on the top of his head.

And no sooner had he picked himself up, the buzzard swooped down for a second attack, forcing the shocked Mr Green to fend it off with flailing limbs.

Mr Green was advised to go to hospital and seek a tetanus jab to reduce the risk of infection.

He attended at accident and emergency and though he did not require treatment he said the public should be warned to be on the alert.

“I was knocked to the ground out of nowhere, with a slam to the top of my head,” Mr Green said.

“I had no idea what had happened. I thought something had fallen out of the sky on me.

“There were bloody gashes on the top of my head.

“I fell to my feet and then I saw the buzzard coming back towards me so I put my hands in the air and it aborted its second attack.”

The Peterculter resident added: “I am a 6 ft tall, 12 and a half stone man and yet I was knocked to the ground by this bird.

“I can’t imagine what this experience would have been like for a child.”
