A kaleidoscope of colours will light up a north-east town next month after plans were unveiled for an architectural animation.

Resdiscover Peterhead, which is working to revive Peterhead town centre, has come with the idea for a festive projection.

The body has working alongside Double Take Projections to come up with the concept.

The Norwich-based firm has found previous success in the north-east at the Spectra festival in Aberdeen.

Their animations lit up iconic city structures like St Nicolas Kirk and Marischal College.

His Majesty’s Theatre transformed into a giant projection telling the Greek myth of Orpheus and Euridyce.

The animations attracted thousands of people to the city centre celebration.

In Peterhead, it would be beamed onto an as yet unnamed building in the town’s Broad Street.

Rediscover Peterhead hope the venture will lead to similar success with an increase in visitors to the town and a boost for businesses, with it lit from 3.30pm-10pm throughout December.

Manager Iain Sutherland is hopeful the attraction will help entice shoppers to the town.

Mr Sutherland said: “We’re hoping people come from round about and come to see it.

“It would be on a building on Broad Street and I think it will something quite amazing.

“We’re trying to get something that nobody else in the north of Scotland has.

“Peterhead could be one of the best lit up towns in the area.”

Chairman John Pascoe added: “It’s a complete animation and it will be down on Broad Street during the cold December nights.”

Rediscover Peterhead said they were keen to hear ideas from local businesses about adding to the event.

Suggestions include a number of stalls and entertainment for children to be set up in Broad Street.
