A book which chronicles the history of an Aberchirder hall with links to the First World War will be released this weekend.
Aberchirder-based historian Bob Peden will launching the new work at a coffee morning in the village tomorrow.
The book, Marnoch Memorial Hall: A Centenary History, has been compiled to mark the centenary of a group who joined forces to build the hall in memory of the men of Marnoch who lost their lives during the First World War.
It details the history of the North Street site and the Memorial Hall Committee’s long period of fundraising before the facility opened in 1926.
Using more than 20 photos contributed by local people, the book highlights the village’s vibrant life before the hall use declined in the prelude to its demolition in 2003.
Mr Peden said: “Time alone will tell whether a new Marnoch Memorial Hall will ever be built.
“In the meantime, I hope this book will provide a souvenir for those who used the original hall as well as enlightening those who never knew about it.”
Priced at £8, the book will be launched at the association’s coffee morning in the Aberchirder Church Hall, Main Street, tomorrow at 10am.
