Aberdeen City Council is looking to improve cycling and walking links from the Bridge of Don area to the city centre.
A public consultation event is being held along with a survey to seek views on how people use the route, and identify improvements for walking and cycling connections in a north-south direction.
The results of the event and survey will help ACC fully understand existing local issues, constraints and barriers to walking and cycling and at the same time better understand potential opportunities and priorities in relation to improving walking and cycling provisions
The survey results will be used to help develop an options appraisal study towards identifying new route or improvements to active travel connections from the Bridge of Don to the city centre ensuring future proofing and seamless connectivity within the network across the area.
The project is included in the current Aberdeen City Council Active Travel Action Plan compromising projects for walking, cycling and wheeling that have been identified as those requiring an upgrade to existing facilities, and those to create new facilities where none currently exists.
Aberdeen City Council transport spokesperson Councillor Sandra Macdonald said: “We are continually looking to improve our road and pavement infrastructure to make it easier, and therefore encourage, more people to walk and cycle around the city.
“This project is part of the Council’s Active Travel Action Plan and I’d encourage people who live in the Bridge of Don and south-wards to take part in the survey.”
A part of the survey, people are being asked how they currently use the route, how they view it, and how they would prefer to see it improved.
The public consultation event is being held at Lidl on King Street from 2pm to 7pm next Thursday. The survey is available until 10am on 30 October by clicking here.
