An actor who grew up in the Fettercairn area has made his big break as a baddy in a new Netflix children’s movie.

Harry Aspinwall, who moved north from England at the age of six, moved across the pond to America when he was 16 and has been pursuing the limelight since.

Despite his Scottish upbringing Mr Aspinwall said he never quite lost his English accent – which helped him land the role of Baxter in the new Netflix film The Sleepover, about children who discover their mother is a former world-class art thief in a witness protection programme.

The 32-year-old stars in the streaming service’s movie alongside big names such as Joe Manganiello, who has appeared in the TV hit series True Blood, the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man film, the comedy movie Magic Mike, and comedy series How I Met Your mother.

He said: “This the first sort of big budget film that I’ve been in, so I was very pleased to land it, it was just a total surprise and I couldn’t believe I got it.

“I’m one of the baddies, in the script they were looking for someone who could start off with an American accept, but all of a sudden switch to suave English, so my accent gave me a bit of a leg up.”

The film is out now on Netflix.
