More than £30,000 of jewellery, electrical items and cash has been stolen from a house in Aberdeen.
Thieves targeted the property in Countesswells between Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
Police posted flyers through some neighbour’s doors informing them of the break-in on Countesswells Road, urging them to come forward with information.
Yesterday shocked residents said that crime was rare on the quiet street.
One man on the street, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s really worrying to hear they have made off with so much, that will be someone’s life they have ruined.
“In the past some of my neighbours have spotted youths fishing through my letterbox and stopped them and some cars were stolen nearby.”
Local councillor John Cooke urged anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “We have had another robbery not far away from here recently so I hope it is not the start of a trend.
“It is disturbing to hear there has been another and I hope the police catch the perpetrators.”
Detective Sergeant John Snedden said that residents with private CCTV should come forward.
He said: “I would ask anyone who was in the area at the weekend and saw anything suspicious to please get in touch. Likewise, I would ask anyone with private CCTV footage in the area to let us know as it could be valuable to our inquiry.
“Thefts of any nature won’t be tolerated and extensive inquiries are ongoing to trace the person – or people – responsible.”
