A painter who pretended he was his brother when stopped by the police has banned from the roads – for the fifth time.
Lukasz Humeniuk decided to get behind the wheel after discovering he and his father did not have the materials required for an early job in Banchory.
He went out to get the kit, but as he was driving down Windgate Place in Aberdeen, he was pulled over by the police.
When asked to identify himself, he gave his brother’s name, Michal Humeniuk.
Officers later discovered this was not the case.
At Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, the 26-year-old admitted driving without insurance or a licence and lying to police about who he was.
He had also been accused of taking the car without permission, but his not guilty plea was accepted by the Crown.
Representing him, defence agent Graham Morrison said he should have been in bed at the time of the offence on June 17 last year.
He said: “This was supposed to be a good deed for his dad but it was an act of stupidiy.”
But Sheriff Colin Dunipace said: “It’s not the first time he’s done this, is it?”
“This is the fifth time he has been up for driving without a licence.”
Mr Morrison accepted the fact, and conceded it was inevitable his client was going to face a further disqualification.
Humeniuk, of Linksfield Court in Aberdeen, was fined £800 and banned from driving for a year.
