A pensioner died yesterday following a one vehicle crash in an Aberdeen community.

Police and ambulance teams were called to the scene of the incident on Berrywell Walk in Dyce at around 2pm following reports a grey Ford Ka had collided with a wall.

The 75-year-old driver was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by paramedics, but sadly died a short time later.

The two other occupants of the car were not injured.

Sergeant Keith Greig said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of this gentleman at this very sad time.

“Our officers have been supporting those who were also in the vehicle when this incident happened.

“The street was closed off while inquiries were carried out.

“Thanks are due to the local community for their patience and understanding.”

Dyce councillor and the city’ Lord Provost Barney Crockett paid tribute to the 75-year-old last night.

Mr Crockett said: “This is a tragic incident for everyone concerned and I think the thoughts and prayers of everyone in the local community will be with the family of this poor gentleman at this sad time.

“I think the whole Dyce community will be in shock that such a terrible thing happened on such a quiet street.

“I’m glad to hear that the other people in the car were not seriously hurt.

“I would like to express my sincere condolences to the friends and family of this man.”
