Two young boxers are facing off in a fight to raise money and awareness for autism.
Tamara Addison, 11, from Aberdeen, and Maddie Mitchell, 12, from Glasgow, are taking part in Rumble on the Clyde event on March 14 where they will compete in a special Muay Thai boxing match.
The city youngster is adding her own special twist by asking the public to donate to local We Too! charity which helps disabled children in Aberdeen.
Tamara, who is also known as Tambomber, learned about autism after meeting Maddie who lives with Tourette’s and autism.
Maddie is also taking part in the competition as an ambassador for Fighting For Autism.
Speaking to the Press and Journal last night, Tamara said: “I want to help other people with my talent.
“I’m excited for the fight and I’ve met Maddie before at other competitions.
“I’ve been training nearly every day with my personal trainer and my coach.
“They’re helping me get much stronger every day.”
She got in touch with the team at We Too! who taught Tamara more about autism during the Aberdeen Christmas Village’s relaxed ice skating sessions.
Tamara’s father Stuart Addison said the youngster had been training in the combat sport since she was five years old and is aiming to implement relaxed Muay Thai sessions at the Granite Fight Factory.
He added: “We are looking forward to working alongside We Too and we are hoping to see as many of our family and friends as possible help us raise awareness of the amazing work which this charity does.”
Tamara has set a target of £500, but hopes she will surpass that figure with the public’s support.
