Major delays after lorry catches fire on A90

Fire crews were called to cut free a trapped person from one of the vehicles.

A lorry caught fire on the A90 north of Aberdeen this morning.

Emergency services closed the road for several hours while they dealt with the incident.

The alarm was raised at around 6.45am and the incident occurred on the northbound carriageway near Balmedie.

The vehicle was reportedly “well alight” when fire crews arrived. Police diverted traffic.

A police spokeswoman said the vehicle was recovered and the road re-opened just after 9am.
