Tips around Aberdeenshire are being opened up to van and trailers as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

From Monday, residents will able to book an appointment for larger drop-offs of all waste materials, with cardboard, glass, bulky items, wood and metal now being accepted.

Textiles are currently not being accepted, and householders are urged to store them at home in the meantime.

Two trips a week are permitted.

Meanwhile the Insch and Portsoy Household Recycling Centres will reopen next week on their usual operating days of Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Bookings for these are now open.

Banff and district councillor Glen Reynolds is “delighted” opening and booking arrangements has now been announced for the site at Portsoy.

He said: “Residents have remained patient and will shortly be able to deal with their recycling through the booking system which I urge them to use.

“A recycling light at the end of the tunnel has been reached for not just the people of Portsoy but for those in the surrounding area.”

Physical distancing rules are in place at all tips and only one adult should unload a vehicle unless two adults are needed for heavy items.

Staff are unable to assist with  unloading and there will be no pedestrian access.

Booking can be made online at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/recyclingcentrebookings
