A82 at Dochfour to shut at nights for roadworks

A82 will be closed for several nights for resurfacing at Dochfour.
A82 will be closed for several nights for resurfacing at Dochfour.

The A82 at Dochfour will be closed overnight next week for £315,000 resurfacing works.

Nearly a mile of the carriageway south of the village will be resurfaced and strengthened.

The overnight project is to begin on Sunday and is programmed to take eight nights to complete.

The works will take place between 9pm and 6am each night. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.

The narrow road is being shut to ensure the safety of both workers and drivers. However, to minimise disruption, amnesties will be provided at 11pm, 1am and 4am to safely escort traffic through the work site.

The road will be open during the day, although a 30mph speed limit will be in place.

Emergency services will be able to pass through at all times and local access for residents living within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through.

Eddie Ross, Bear Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “The £315,000 surfacing improvements will help address the defects on this section of the A82 and greatly improve the surface for motorists.

“Due to the narrow road widths, the traffic management is essential to ensuring the safety of road workers and motorists.

“We’ve taken on board feedback from the consultation process and steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the works overnight, pushing the start time back to 9pm and avoiding working Friday and Saturday nights to help limit the impact on residents and motorists.

“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out the project. We encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website before setting off for up to date traffic information.”
