The family of a Dornoch schoolboy seriously injured in a road accident have thanked the organisers of a pipe band parade held in his honour.
Dylan Davidson led the parade through his hometown on Saturday afternoon as he continues his recovery from serious injuries he sustained in the accident last November.
The nine-year-old was flanked by his parents Kevin and Jean, who last night offered their thanks for the fundraising efforts for their son.
Mr Davidson also gave an update on Dylan’s rehabilitation, saying he is “doing really well” and has returned to school for a few hours a day.
The parade was attended by a large number of well-wishers and was organised by drum major Duncan Macdonald and Sergeant Peter Allan, who was among the first on the scene of Dylan’s accident
The police officer had also helped deliver Dylan at the side of the road in Caithness when his parents realised they would not reach the hospital in time.
Last night Mr Davidson said: “We would just want to thank everyone involved in organising the massed pipe bands at the weekend.
“We would especially like to give thanks to Peter Allan and Duncan Macdonald who helped pull things together.
“So obviously it’s a massive thanks to everyone who was there, it really meant a lot to us.”
Dylan was knocked down on his way home from school in Dornoch in November.
He was pushed in a wheelchair at the head of the parade by Sgt Allan.
The officer helped deliver Dylan after his parents flagged down his patrol car on the A882 between Thurso and Wick after realising they were not going to make it Caithness General Hospital in time.
And nearly a decade on, the police officer was on duty on the November night last year when Dylan was seriously injured on the way home from school in Dornoch.
The event was organised to raise funds to help with Dylan’s recovery.
The total sum raised has not yet been counted.
