The selfless volunteers of a north-east lifeboat crew have announced the return of an RNLI Gala in a bid to raise money for the local station.
The Biennial Macduff Lifeboat Gala will take place next month and will bring together crews from the Banffshire town as well as neighbouring stations Buckie and Fraserburgh.
A spokesman said: “Once again we’ll be taking over the fish market and harbour for our gala day. We’ll be welcoming our colleagues from our flank stations Buckie and Fraserburgh.
“We are also hoping that the last ‘all-weather’ lifeboat to be stationed in Macduff, the Douglas Currie, will be coming again this year.
“We have some great live music lined up as well as the almost legendary crew barbecue serving burgers, hotdogs and fish.”
The gala day on Sunday, August 20 will also include raffles, teas and coffees, sandwiches and a bottle stall.
Earlier this month the brave Macduff crew were called to the aid of a man who was spotted in the waters of Macduff harbour. The lifeboat Lydia Macdonald was launched and was almost immediately on the scene where paramedics were performing CPR on a man who had been pulled from the water.
The man, who was pulled from the water by a teenager who leapt to his aid, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but later died.
