Young cadets in a north-east town will be able to enjoy a new hut after the council approved plans for a new building.
The Highland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association had applied for permission to pull down the existing building on Academy Road to make way for a replacement.
The current facility is used as a meeting point for the army cadets and the new base will be of a similar design in the same location.
The new building will feature a drill hall, two classrooms, an office and toilets.
The plans for the new hut were last night welcomed by Banff and District councillor Glen Reynolds.
Mr Reynolds said: “I am always pleased to see the modernisation of property that can be brought back into better use and made more attractive and functional, not least a facility that will help the bairns to develop their discipline, personality and character, including the forging of relationships within their peer group.
“I wish the Highland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association well in their proposals to pull down their existing hut in Banff and create a new building.”
The fence around the hut will also remain in place and the existing connections to the public water supply and drainage will be retained.
