REGIONAL BREAKDOWN: No new Covid-19 cases recorded in north and north-east as Scotland’s total rises by nine

There have been no new cases of coronavirus recorded in the north and north-east in the past 24 hours.

The latest update from the Scottish Government shows nine people across Scotland have tested positive for the virus since Tuesday – taking the country’s total to 18,191.

A total of 238, 076 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS Scotland labs and UKG to date. Of these, 219,885 were confirmed negative.

Of the people who have tested positive, 489 were in hospital as of last night and eight of whom were in intensive care. There are a further 15 people in intensive care with suspected Covid-19.

Since March 5, 4,012 inpatients have been discharged from hospital.

The figures also show a further four people have died after contracting the virus. Scotland’s death toll is now 2,480.

A regional breakdown of the figures show there have been no cases recorded in the north and north-east in the past 24 hours.

Grampian’s total remains at 1,413 – and 47 people in hospital – while Highlands’ total is 374.

There have been 54 cases on Shetland, nine on Orkney and seven in the Western Isles.
