Willie Miller: Notes of concern over Dons’ defence

With the number of players missing, Aberdeen’s defence coped all right against Dundee.

However, there will be some concern at the number of chances Dee had at Dens Park.

Scott McKenna, pictured, Tommie Hoban and Mark Reynolds were all injured and Shay Logan was suspended.

With the chances Dundee had it told me there was a little bit of uncertainty at the back. The loss of McKenna is a big thing and it meant captain Graeme Shinnie had to go back to left-back and it meant his aggression was lost in midfield.

When you consider the chances Dundee had, I’m not 100% convinced the Dons kept them out comfortably.

However, when you look at the players who were missing you can understand that – but it wasn’t rock solid.

Another defender coming in on loan would help when there are four players out. However, I thought Michael Devlin was excellent. He is a leader, he was dominant in the air and on the ground and his use of the ball was good.

And Dominic Ball, Andy Considine and Shinnie also did fine, while goalie Joe Lewis was his usual solid self.

However, there will be some concern.
