Rory MacEwan hopes to keep his place in an Elgin City side hitting form at the right time.
The League 2 side chase their fourth win in a row this weekend against Queen’s Park, on the back of triumphs over Stirling Albion, Brechin City and Cove Rangers.
MacEwan has started the last 12 games and has formed a consistent partnership in the middle of the park with Brian Cameron, keeping ex-Ross County youngster Russell Dingwall out of the team.
The 22-year-old said: “I’ve got a good partnership going with Soapy (Brian Cameron) at the minute in the middle, it seems to be working well and the team are playing quite well at the minute. Hopefully it can continue.
“We had the spell before Christmas where we won five in a row in the league but since that we’ve been patchy. We’d been saying we needed to get a run going and now we’ve got three in a row, so hopefully we can keep that going now.
“We’ve got two big games coming up, against Queen’s Park and Cowdenbeath. If we come through them with good results then we’re in a good spot to fight for the play-off places. We’ve always said it would be a bit of a travesty if we didn’t make the play-off places with the squad that we’ve got.”
Elgin sealed their third win on the spin with an impressive 3-0 triumph at home to Cove at the weekend, with MacEwan netting the third in windy conditions at Borough Briggs.
He added: “It probably wasn’t the greatest game on the eye but we thought we handled it well. We were 2-0 up at half-time and saw it out.
“The third goal gave us the confidence that we could see it out. I’m always happy to get on the scoresheet – that’s two with my head this season, which is a bit of a surprise.”
