Defender Graeme Shinnie believes the Dons must win all seven remaining games if they are to stand any chance of winning the title.
The Dons trail Celtic by four points after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Motherwell at Fir Park and have played one game more than Ronny Deila’s men.
Kenny McLean had put Aberdeen in front with a penalty just before the break but two Well goals in three minutes, from Scott McDonald and Louis Moult, were enough to down the Dons, who ended the match with 10 men after Barry Robson was dismissed for elbowing McDonald a minute after replacing Andrew Considine.
The Dons are not back in action until after the international break when they host Hamilton Accies on April 3 and Shinnie feels his side has no room for error over the closing stretch.
He said: “All we can do now is try to win our remaining games.
“We need other teams to do us a favour. First and foremost, we need to focus on ourselves and make sure we are winning games. We are at a stage in the season where we can’t afford any more defeats.
“From now on we must win every game. We will come back fresher after the break, try to win every match until the end of the season, and see where it takes us.
“It was frustrating we didn’t take anything from Saturday’s game. I feel like we played well and were comfortable up until they scored.
“They hit the post in the first half but apart from that they didn’t trouble us too much. We had chances to go 2-0 up and potentially kill the game.
“Then we conceded two scrappy goals, which was disappointing – it was a very frustrating afternoon.”
It had looked as though Celtic were going to drop points in Saturday’s lunchtime match against Kilmarnock until Tom Rogic produced a 90th-minute winner for the Hoops.
Shinnie said Aberdeen’s pre-match preparations to face Motherwell were unaffected by Celtic’s late victory.
He added: “We just focused on ourselves. I didn’t know until after the game they had scored in the last minute.
“We didn’t have the game on, we were just focused on our own game. It was a frustrating day but, generally, we have bounced back well this season. With so few games remaining we will need to do it straight away.”
