Tracy Clark, managing director of Aberdeenshire-based ITC Hydraulics, has won one of the top gongs in the 2022 Business Women Scotland Awards (BWSAs).
Ms Clark was selected by the judging panel as Business Woman of the Year.
The award recognises a woman who has made an outstanding impact on the business landscape in Scotland, overcoming challenges and adversity to build a successful business or community enterprise and providing inspiration for the next generation.
It’s been quite a month for Ms Clark having already picked up the award for Businesswoman of the Year at the Scottish SME Business Awards and Business of the Year at the Scottish Women’s Awards.
‘Amazing recognition’
She said: “The recognition in this is amazing for me because I’m working in oil and gas which is very much a male dominated industry.
“I work with a lot of men and I think it’s taken a long time for some of them to take me seriously.
“The award wins help women in this type of business not to be so scared to be run these businesses.”
Ms Clark launched ITC Hydraulics with her husband, Ian, in 1999, while also raising a young family. It has since developed and grown, working with clients around the world.
Ms Clark, who previously served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer, took over the responsibilities of managing director in 2018.
Speaking about her recent win Ms Clark said: “I am thrilled to be recognised by Business Women Scotland, as well as the wider business community and of course my peers.
“It’s been a tremendous and inspirational day celebrating women in business from a variety of sectors.”
ITC opened a new hydraulic division facility in Barra Business Park, near Oldmeldrum, about a year ago and operates its fabrication and machining division at St Katherines, between Fyvie and Oldmeldrum.
There’s another award up for grabs for the firm with it being shortlisted for Family Business in the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Northern Star Business Awards 2023.
Celebrate achievements
BWS founder Lynne Kennedy said: “Over the years, the BWS Business Awards has
become a must-attend event for members and non-members alike to celebrate not only their own accomplishments but also the achievements of their peers.
“We hope to encourage women to put themselves forward for well-deserved recognition for future awards and offer our congratulations to all the winners and finalists.”
This year, winners were chosen from a panel of judges which included Barrhead Travel president, Jacqueline Dobson, Rekha Welsh of DSL business finance, Alyson Pearson of
Business Gateway, and founding director of Ammu Accountants, Jane Grant.
BWS is a membership platform providing business advice to women and was founded 14 years ago, becoming one of the largest membership networks to provide expert advice to women.
