Murphy Agricultural Machinery has been appointed Deutz-Fahr dealer for Aberdeenshire.

The Peterhead-based company, which is run by brothers James and David Murphy, has added Deutz-Fahr to its existing range of franchises including Hardi, Vicon, Kongskilde, Overum, Dal-Bo, Rolland Trailers and Sumo.

Up until eight years ago, the company held the franchise for Deutz-Fahr but parted ways with the company to switch to another tractor brand. They have now rekindled their relationship with the German tractor manufacturer.James said: “The decision to take on the Deutz-Fahr tractor brand came about for a host of reasons.

“Customer demand played a large part because we still have original Deutz-Fahr tractors on farms that need servicing. The Deutz-Fahr tractors also have a very good reputation for quality, reliability and fuel efficiency.”

Service and back-up to both new and existing customers will be managed by a team of six including two full-time fitters, one part-time fitter, one parts and servicing manager, and the two Murphy brothers.

“There will always be a need for aftersales support at some point. It’s about how quickly and efficiently the problems are dealt with that matter. At busy times of year farmers can’t afford downtime and so it’s our duty to make sure that wherever possible the wheels keep turning,” said James.

“We are arable farmers too so we know how critical a good support network is. The Deutz-Fahr brand, and I include its combines in this, is renowned for quality and reliability. We can provide a first class back-up and technical knowledge with support from the Deutz-Fahr headquarters in Warwickshire.”
