A shop worker who threw a glass when her friend’s ex-boyfriend winked at her in a club has been told not to engage in “Wild West” stand-offs and seek revenge when people upset her.

Cassidy Will was partying with pals in Nox, Aberdeen, when the incident happened.

Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard that the 22-year-old felt the man had winked and licked his lips, which caused her to lose her temper and launch the glass.

Police were called and she was charged with culpably and recklessly throwing a glass to the danger of others, which she admitted yesterday.

Fiscal depute Amanda Allan said: “Police received a report that the accused had thrown a glass at him. The incident was not caught on CCTV. She admitted that she had thrown a glass in frustration.”

Defence agent Shane Campbell told the court: “The other individual involved was someone known to her. He had previously been the boyfriend of one of her best friends.

“Her friend had been extremely upset. Unfortunately the accused was under the influence of alcohol. She had earlier been drinking at a friend’s house.

“On the night in question, the male went to speak to the other individual. A confrontation happened. The accused’s position is that he remained there staring at her. She says he winked at her and licked his lips. She threw the glass at the floor in frustration.”

Sheriff Malcolm Garden told Will, of Beechgrove Terrace, Aberdeen: “This is somewhat bizarre behaviour. We can’t have people going into Wild West-type stand offs in public, exacting revenge on others who have wronged them.”

He fined her £200.
