North-east businesses are being urged to work together to boost the regeneration of two coastal towns.
The Enterprise Challenge Fund was launched last year and is aimed at companies trying to improve Banff and Macduff.
Two projects involving 14 different businesses secured funding in 2017 and others are now being invited to submit their ideas.
The fund has now been relaunched for 2018 with up to £2,500 available for projects which will be of benefit to the communities.
Each application needs to demonstrate plans to increase footfall in the town centres as well as proposals to promote the use of empty spaces and improve town centre vibrancy.
Projects will need to be completed within nine months of the funding being granted.
The scheme is based on feedback from businesses given during ongoing consultations.
Councillor Andy Kille, chairman of the Banff and Buchan area committee said successful regeneration plans could help “strengthen” the towns.
He said: “We can’t underestimate the importance of supporting and encouraging innovation from the communities in Banff and Macduff.
“By developing collaborative projects between businesses and community organisations we strengthen our towns and bring people together, so I’m pleased to see this fund being relaunched to support that.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what businesses and community groups come up with in 2018.”
Banff and Buchan area committee vice chairman councillor Michael Roy has urged business leaders considering lodging applications to use their imagination when coming up with project ideas.
He said: “There are many possibilities for potential projects, from town events marking specific occasions, to commissioning artwork for redundant spaces, to collaborative promotions for the towns.
“Imagination is key, and tapping into current tourism trends and events could all offer exciting opportunities for local businesses, contributing to local regeneration efforts.”
