Aberdeen revellers will say Thank You For The Music this Hogmanay as an ABBA tribute band take to the stage in the city centre.
Roads throughout the heart of Aberdeen will be shut on December 31 until 6am on January 1 for this year’s street party.
The festivities will begin at 9pm, when musicians will perform at Schoolhill right up until a fantastic fireworks display at midnight.
The first to perform will be local musicians Rachael Bisset and Scott Mellis, followed by the Celtic rock band Gleadhraich.
And the evening’s music will culminate with a performance by ABBA cover band Thank You For The Music.
Those enjoying the celebrations won’t need to spend too much Money, Money, Money either, as the street party is completely free to attend.
Marie Boulton, the city council’s culture spokeswoman said: “There is always a great atmosphere in the city centre on Hogmanay.
“Our free street party is an excellent way to bring in the bells.
“We look forward to welcoming thousands of people from all across the city, throughout the region and further afield to Aberdeen for one of the biggest events on the Scottish social calendar.
“The Hogmanay celebrations is our last event of our festive schedule, and what better way to signal the end of another fantastic Christmas in Aberdeen than with our annual street party.”
The event will be supported by the Scotland’s Winter Festival fund, managed by Event Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.
International Development Minister Ben Macpherson said: “With its incredible performances and exciting celebrations, Aberdeen’s Hogmanay attracts audiences of people from far and wide to bring in the new year, raising Scotland’s profile internationally.”
Aberdeen street pastors will be on hand to make sure everyone enjoying themselves in the Hogmanay celebrations get home safely, along with the city’s taxi marshals.
Road closures over the course of the Hogmanay street party will include Schoolhill at its junction with Blackfriars Street to its junction with Back Wynd; Upperkirkgate at its junction with Back Wynd to its junction with Flourmill Lane; Blackfriars Street; Rosemount Viaduct; Denburn Viaduct; Belmont Street at its junction with Little Belmont Street to its junction with Schoolhill; and parts of Back Wynd.
