Police appeal for information in hunt for missing Fraserburgh 15-year-old

Joshua Coombes has been missing from Fraserburgh since Thursday January 17.
Joshua Coombes has been missing from Fraserburgh since Thursday January 17.

Family and friends of a missing north-east teenager are urging any member of the public with information to contact them.

Joshua Coombes has been missing from his home in Fraserburgh since Thursday night.

The 15-year-old was last seen at around 11pm in the Saltoun Place area and worried friends and relatives have taken to social media appealing for him to return.

Joshua is around 5ft 5in with light, mousey brown hair faded at the sides, of slim build with a Scottish accent and deep voice.

The teenager is thought to have been wearing a long sleeved black top, black bottoms and grey trainers when he was last seen.

Relatives and friends have taken to social media and asked the P&J to help them raise awareness.

Steve Coombes has been posting on Facebook in the hope that someone can help them – and to appeal to Joshua to come home.

In one message, he said: “This is Joshua Coombes. He’s been missing since Thursday evening and is probably lying low in Fraserburgh, but could be anywhere in north-east Scotland.

“He is 15 and confused and frightened and in a bad place.

“Please, please, please, if you know where he is call Police Scotland on 101.

“He is due to move away from the Broch and doesn’t want to go but we are all concerned for his safety.

“His family have not abandoned him, we just need to know where he is and that he is safe.”

The post has since been shared across the UK over 2,400 times.

On Saturday, Mr Coombes added: “There are unconfirmed reports of Josh being seen in Inverness tonight and time wise it’s possible, so if anyone has contacts up there then again please share.”

Another appeal from Leanne Taylor has been shared more than 3,000 times.

She wrote: “This is Joshua and he has now been missing since Thursday evening.

“Can everyone around Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Banff, Macduff areas be on the lookout for him when you’re out and about. If you see him can you ring the police please.”

Officers in the north-east are currently looking to trace Joshua.

A Police spokesman said: “Joshua is 15 years of age, he has short light brown hair, which is faded at the sides.

“He is approximately 5ft 5in in height, slim build, brown eyes, with a Scottish accent with a deep voice.

“He was last seen wearing a long sleeved black top, black bottoms and grey trainers.

“Anyone with any information are asked to call Police Scotland on 101.”
