Tourism chiefs have hailed Taste of Grampian for generating more than £40 million for the north-east since it was first launched.
The culinary showcase will return to Inverurie on Saturday, for its 20th year, with high-profile names including Master Chef judge John Torode among the line-up expected to impress guests with their dishes.
More than 180 north-east and Scottish food and drink producers have been booked to operate stalls at Scotland’s largest one-day food festival.
And on the eve of the milestone 20th event, tourism bosses have claimed it generates more than £2m for the north-east economy every year.
Belinda Miller, Aberdeenshire Council’s head of economic development, said: “Past exhibitors tell us that their companies experience substantial increases in business to consumer sales as a direct result of trading at the show, making it a great experience for exhibitors and visitors alike.
“We see this year’s 20th event as a celebration of local industry and innovation, and one that gives us confidence that the region will continue to innovate and develop over the years to come.”
About 12,000 guests are anticipated to visit the Thainstone Centre throughout the day to see demonstrations from names such as Celebrity Master Chef finalist Spencer Matthews and Gary Maclean, who won the professionals show in 2016.
Elsewhere, several inspiring local chefs will showcase their skills and share expert tips.
Peter Cook, director of food, drink and agriculture for Opportunity North East, said the event had also been a huge part in the growth of new businesses
He said: “Taste of Grampian has helped grow the north-east’s image as the source of a wide range of quality food and drink, and we believe it will be one element in drawing more visitors to the area.
“Visitors want interesting and authentic experiences and Taste of Grampian allows them to get in front of real producers.
“The show gives us a great insight into how businesses are innovating, adapting and diversifying and the 20th anniversary shows it remains as important an opportunity as ever.”
The event runs from 9am-5pm.
