Peterhead will draw on inspiration from Aberdeen in an effort to breathe new life into the town centre.
A new art project called Painted Peterhead is aiming to brighten up the Blue Toon this summer.
It follows in the footsteps of the Painted Doors scheme and Nu Art festival in Aberdeen, which allow artists to use the unloved corners of the city as their canvass.
The initiatives have seen an impressive collection of murals spring up across the Granite City.
And now the body in charge of revitalising Peterhead town centre hope similar moves in Buchan will add a splash of colour to walls, doors, alleys and windows.
John Pascoe from Rediscover Peterhead hopes the scheme will help revitalise the town in a similar fashion to the Granite City.
He said: “Street art is something Rediscover Peterhead has wanted to promote in the town centre since the beginning and as a community and we are lucky to have such talented artists in the area.

“When you see the incredible momentum the likes of Painted Doors Aberdeen, or Nu Art has achieved over the past couple of years town centre regeneration must include and support community projects such as this one.”
Painted Peterhead is due to begin in a matter of weeks and now the search is under way for artists who want to showcase their work.
Gilbert Burnett, who runs Buchan Aquatics on Broad Street thinks, it is a “fantastic” idea and also has an area of the town in mind for the addition of artwork.
Mr Burnett said: “It can only be a good thing for Peterhead and especially the more run-down parts of the town.
“I would like to see the steps leading up to the statue of Field Marshall Keith near my business being brightened up.”
Peterhead South and Cruden councillor Stephen Calder said the scheme sounded like a “great idea”.
He said: “It sounds a great idea to brighten up areas of the town centre and make them more attractive.
“There is also an an opportunity to showcase creative visual art in the town.”
Adrian Watson from Aberdeen Inspired, the group in charge of Painted Doors Aberdeen, said they were happy to be providing inspiration for business chiefs in Peterhead.
He hopes it proves every bit as successful and popular in Buchan as it is in the city.
Mr Watson said: “Aberdeen Inspired is delighted the Peterhead BID is looking at the ‘Painted Doors’ concept.
“It has served Aberdeen City Centre so well for several years now and really goes some way to reactivate the spaces and bring a flourish of artistic colour and talent to our streets.
“We are proud to have brought the Painted Doors concept to the UK from Portugal and to see it flourish in several different guises in towns and cities across the UK.
“I hope the people of Peterhead and wider Buchan enjoy this excellent initiative.”

This is not the first time the business improvement district body has been involved in brightening up Peterhead.
In December, they brought some festive cheer with a series of animations projected onto the vacant Wiseman’s building on Broad Street.
