People of all ages are being encouraged to take part in a festive fun run on a north-east beach for charity.
The inaugural Cruden Christmas Eve Caper 5k run is open to all ages and abilities and will raise funds for the charity Christian Aid.
The event will commence on Christmas Eve at 1.45pm and participants can enter on the day of the event for an entry donation of their choice. The cut-off time is 3pm to avoid high tide and ensure reasonable light levels.
Organiser Sean Swindells said: “Christian Aid is one of many worthwhile organisations working alongside people in some of the most difficult and testing places in the world.”
“I’m running the London Marathon next year for Christian Aid, so this is part of my fundraising for that.”
The route will be signed and participants can walk, jog or run the 5km. People of all ages and abilities can take part.
Volunteers, a tail walker and a couple of trained first aiders will be posted on the route, but runners are responsible for their own safety.
Cruden Bay IT Services donated three trophies for first male, first female and first under 16.
Bottled water and mince pies will be available for participants at the finish line.
Mr Swindells hopes to organise more similar events as part of his marathon fundraising effort next year.
