An Aberdeenshire baby photographer has launched a “virtual” service to create pictures of newborns without leaving her home.

Award-winning photographer Donna Gray was forced to cancel bookings due to Covid-19, but was determined to honour her commitments to mums-to-be and has now transformed her way of operating.

Despite having to close her premises for Small Prints Photography in Alford, Mrs Gray has produced a series of videos, helping coach families on how to safely position their babies in the most flattering ways.

Oliver Gray was filmed with his parents with the help of Donna Gray.

She also established a private online group where her clients could ask her questions and speak through a direct video link. And she got to work on forming a “lending box”, including hats, accessories, backdrops, baby gifts and special messages.

Among those who have snapped up the tips are Katrina and Barry Gray, who used them for a shoot of baby Oliver.

Photographer Donna said: “At the moment, many couples are having to postpone occasions such as weddings, but these, however problematic, can be rescheduled. Newborn photography can’t: the chance to capture this fleeting stage of life is very short.

“I’m thrilled that Oliver and his family will have beautiful portraits to look back on, despite all the worrying things going on in the world during the time he arrived.”
