A north-east charity is asking people to spring clean their wardrobes to support the homeless.
Aberdeen Cyrenians wants the public to sort through their clothes and put aside those they no longer need.
The charity already collects clothing for its vulnerable service users but has plans to launch a new online charity shop, called AC Wardrobe, later this year.
In recent weeks, demand for clothing has accelerated as coronavirus has prevented those in need being able to access their second hand clothing stores and laundry facilities.
Now, it is encouraging people to go through their wardrobes and donate clothing to the charity when they return to accepting clothing donations after lockdown.
Aberdeen Cyrenians’ community fundraiser, Bryony Shepherd, said: “Although we have seen increased demand during this lockdown, unfortunately we can’t take donations at this time.
“We rely completely on the amazing generosity of the public to operate our clothing service and will be sorely in need of clothes once it is lifted.”
Last year, Aberdeen Cyrenians received around £40,000 worth of clothing from supporters.
Ms Shepherd added: “We’d love to see people clearing out their wardrobes to give us a head start for the online shop.
“We are looking for good quality workwear, evening wear, footwear, accessories and vintage pieces, in a variety of sizes and styles.
“Though we’re currently unable to accept donations at our head office due to the lockdown, it would be great if people could pop stuff aside for us now, sign-up for updates on the project via our website, and then their donations can be dropped-off and collected in the near future.”
