Aberdeen councillors have unanimously backed an investigation into how the local authority could buy First Aberdeen.
The council would potentially take on the fleet and the King Street depot in a publicly-run model like the city’s former Grampian buses or Edinburgh’s Lothian services.
Meetings between council and the bus firm have already taken place after First announced they were separating First Bus from the rest of the group.
A new transport bill, making its way through Holyrood, would lift the ban on councils operating services.
