Police have charged the boy

A young boy has been charged after an alleged knife incident at an Aberdeen primary school on Monday (March 7).

It is understood the primary seven pupil is 11 years old.

Parents received an e-mail from the head teacher at the school alerting them to an incident involving “a P7 pupil with a knife”.

Police Scotland confirmed they had been called to the school , which cannot be named for legal reasons, and said: “Following an incident on Monday, Police Scotland can confirm that a pupil has been charged.”

The e-mail which confirmed no one was injured during the drama, was sent to parents on Monday.

It said: “I am writing to inform you that there has been an incident in school involving a P7 pupil with a knife.

“It is likely that your child knows nothing about this incident but, nevertheless, I wanted to inform all parents directly of the situation.

“The incident itself took place outwith the classroom and was witnessed only by a small number of P7 pupils.

“Firstly and most importantly, I want to reassure you all everyone is safe and no one has been injured in any way. We have treated this as a top priority and immediately contacted Police Scotland.

“As you would expect, the police are dealing with this matter, and they have commended the manner in which we as a school have dealt with the situation.”

“Clearly we want to strike an appropriate balance between managing the situation in school while at the same time focusing on our day to day learning activities.”
